 How to Get Free Advertising With Google AdWords
Advertisers are using Google AdWords to get free advertising. Creative advertisers have found a new way to get valuable, free ad impressions, by using pay-per-click advertising. Yes, it's free advertising, and here's how they do it.
When you place your text ad, image ad or Flash ad on AdWords, it will be shown over and over on the Internet. Some people read it and click on it. Other people read your ad, make a note of your business, and decide not to click at that moment. Your ad gets lots of audience exposure, whether people click on it or not. But if the reader doesn't click, you don't pay for this ad impression. This is free advertising.
Compare this to magazines which charge for each ad impression, no matter what. The technique of using AdWords for lots of free advertising is something marketers are taking advantage of. You can use it, too. Of course, you will still pay a few cents when someone clicks your ad. But often an image ad or Flash ad is so full of information that clicking isn't necessary. For example, car ads, pizza ads and movie ads shown by AdWords are designed to take advantage of this free advertising.
You get lots of free advertising with AdWords pay-per-click ads. As you browse the web, notice Google AdWords ads. You'll see how the ad for a new movie runs the movie preview right on the web page. You might see a car ad that introduces a new model with vivid pictures of its features. This ad is building a brand, the same way advertisers use display advertising. It's a major change from the pay-per-click AdWords ad that says, "Click here and come to our web page for product information." Now the ad is so full of information that there is no incentive for the reader to click, only to observe and read. Sometimes the ads include a phone number, so there's no need to click the ad at all. These ads are also useful if you want to build traffic to your bricks and mortar store. Who knew you could get so much free advertising with an AdWords ad?
