You get free ecards to send to anyone. You get a huge choice of screensavers and desktop backgrounds for your computer. You also get fun smileys to use in your email and Instant Messages. Q: If it's so good, why is it free?
A: Mainly, the people who give you these fun things want you to know about their search engine www.ask.com. Ask.com is a well-known search engine, too. They have a nice start-up page for your browser with a search box that searches ask.com, as well as google.com and yahoo.com. But if you want, you can still use your own start-up page instead.
Q: What about spam and viruses?
A: It's certified spam and virus free by an independent testing service. I've used it and have lots of fun with it.
Q: Are there any downsides?
A: There are a few banner ads when you use the toolbar icons, but they're not intrusive. Hey, everybody's got to make a buck.
Q: Can I get rid of it if I don't want it?
A: Yes. You can uninstall it at any time. To uninstall it, click the fifth icon on the toolbar. It has an option called Enable / Disable Features. Then click Uninstall My Web Search.
Q: Anything else?
A: No matter if you want the Free Mouse Cursors, or the Free Greeting Cards, the Free Screensavers or the Free Smilies, your toolbar comes with icons for all these options, with no extra effort. It's a great package !!
